We Went Mountain Biking at Niseko’s First Dedicated MTB School!

Looking for a fun and active way to experience Niseko in summer? Taking a mountain bike lesson with Niseko MTB at Koropokkur MTB Park is a fun way to enjoy nature and explore the forest, whether you’re completely new to mountain biking or looking to improve your skills.

We took part in a group lesson at Koropokkur MTB Park, home to Niseko MTB, Niseko’s first dedicated mountain bike school. Tucked away in the trees near the base of Niseko’s Hirafu Village, the park features a range of trails geared towards first timers and beginner riders.

Beginners can start with flatter, flowy routes that build confidence riding on narrow forest trails, then progress to steeper trails with more technical lines and features. Everything is built with progression in mind, so you’re constantly building skills and confidence as you ride. All the trails are signposted, so you won’t end up on a more difficult trail – unless you’re ready!

There’s an extensive skills park where riders can warm up on the pump track, then progress through a series of small to medium jumps before heading down the forest trails.

It’s a popular weekend activity with some of the local kids who return throughout the summer with their season passes while parents take a break and enjoy the peaceful forest setting.

Once you’ve mastered the trails here, you’ll be ready for the lift-access MTB courses up at Niseko Grand Hirafu.

The staff are friendly and fun, with both English and Japanese speaking instructors available to demonstrate techniques and help you build your confidence on the trails.
